CAMP DESCRIPTION:
The Performing Arts Dance Camp is directed by Ms, Richards, the Dance Program Director at Severna Park High School. Ms. Richards danced professionally with the Martha Graham Ensemble in NYC and has performed and taught in many countries throughout the world! She earned her graduate degree from the University of Iowa and taught at the University of Utah before coming to Maryland. This camp is committed to providing a diverse and fun community where children and youths can develop an increased understanding of themselves and others. Activities associated with this camp are designed to encourage creativity, cooperation, risk-taking, self-confidence, responsibility and fun. Students can choose from a wide variety of classes/genres being offered at the camp which include hip-hop, creative dance, african dance, zumba, glee (musical theater), arts & crafts, steppin' and ceramics. Students will receive over 20 hours of creative music, dance and art instruction (taught by professionals in the industry), all art class materials and an end-of-the-week pizza party. Also, on the last evening of the camp, students will perform for their family and friends in a culminating Showcase Finale Performance which will be approximately one hour in length. One complimentary ticket is include and additional tickets can be purchased for $5.00.
